St John’s Seminary is a place of formation for priesthood and the main house is a large Grade II listed building.

The requirement was to upgrade the heating system. Baystar carried out a feasibility study for both a biomass system and an energy efficient replacement gas boiler. Due to space and maintenance concerns, the client chose the latter option.

Baystar decommissioned the old gas heating system which was situated in the cellar. Baystar installed 2 new 400kW condensing gas boilers, replacing the existing flue and setting up a control system, overcoming the usual challenges associated with older buildings.

The fuel cost saving will be approximately 10%.
