Established in 2011 and covering East and West Sussex, London, Greater London, Surrey, Kent, East Hampshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Berkshire, Baystar is one of the most trusted names in the field of renewable energies. Under the guidance of Jonny Starmer (MCIOB) and Jason Bayliss, the Sussex-based industry leader is enabling home owners, commercial business, large organisations, and property developers across the South and South-East to benefit from tried and tested renewable technologies, both financially beneficial and environmentally friendly.

With rising costs of outdated fossil-fuel energies, renewable energy systems have become increasingly more attractive. The office Team

Jason Bayliss

Founder and Technical Director

Jason is an experienced commercial and domestic renewable heating engineer. He holds many technical qualifications and has specialist knowledge of ground, air and water source heat pump equipment and controls. He is a fountain of heat pump knowledge and a great person to work with.

Jonny Starmer

Founder and Commercial Director

Jonny was a quantity surveyor specialising in domestic & commercial construction. He is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB). Jonny brings a wealth of building experience which fits perfectly with implementing renewables into new build projects as well as retrofit buildings.

Aneta Maznica

Finance Co-ordinator

Aneta has been with Baystar Ltd since the companies early days in 2013. She manages the day to day finances as well as overseeing the administration affairs.

Ellora Harper

Operations Manager

Ellora joined the team in October 2022 and works closely with Jonny on new enquiries, as well as overseeing the operations of all aspects of the company. She holds many skills that have been transferrable from past jobs in events, sales and marketing in several sectors. Ellora specialises in the installation of Solar PV and is your first warm and welcoming contact for your installation journey.

Beki Diffley

Project Co-Ordinator

Beki joined us in January 2025 after the closure of a well-established heat pump installer. With strong industry knowledge and organisational skills, she supports Jason in project management and has been a valuable team member.

Ella Sanwell

Service and Maintenance Co-Ordinator

Ella is our dedicated Service & Maintenance Coordinator and joined that role in September 2024 as the Service and Maintenance Team required a full time support and admin role. Ella is your main point of contact should you have an emergency, an issue with your heat pump or simply like to book in a service. She is organized and positive.

Bertie Beanland

Business Development Director

Bertie joins Baystar with over 12 years of experience in the renewables sector. Initially starting as a consultant working primarily with ground source heat pumps for large domestic and light commercial applications, Bertie has most recently worked in the supply and distribution chain of renewable technology for the UK market. When not in the office, Bertie is a keen cook, outdoorsman and rugby club social secretary.

The Install and Service Team

Sam Bishop

Electrical Engineer

Sam is our Electrical QS (Qualified Supervisor). He’s had over 10 years experience in domestic electrical installations and leads all of our Solar Installations. Sam is also responsible for our compliance and certification with governing bodies such as NICEIC. Sam is a proactive and hands on team member.

Ryan Shorter

Electrical Engineer

Ryan is a senior electrical engineer, he is well versed in heat pump & plantroom wiring and has completed many prestigious installations and large building management systems (BMS). Ryan is also qualified Gas Engineer, Heat Pump installer and qualified in solar, battery storage systems and EV charging.

Leo Evans

Electrical Apprentice

Leo is our newest team member, and our electrical apprentice who joined in September 2025. Having already had hands on experience in his Dad’s business it is clear Leo will fit well with the Baystar Team and he has already demonstrated a strong work ethic and is keen to learn.

Nick Jones

Technical Lead Engineer for Service and Maintenance.

Nick has been a Service engineer since 2014. He is a technical guru when it comes to anything mechanical, he spends some of his time servicing and repairing renewable energy systems for new and existing clients, he also assists senior installers with any technical issues they may have. Nick has built strong relationships with a lot of our clients and is often requested to attend their sites.

Steve Wilson

Service and Maintenance Engineer

Steve joined the Service and Maintenance Team in January 2024. Steve is F-Gas certified allowing him to carry out essential refrigerant work, prior to this it was typically outsourced. Steve has an active life and regularly enjoys Rugby and Golf locally – don’t be alarmed if he has a black eye, it’s most definitely a rugby injury!

John Gibson

Service and Maintenance Engineer

John joined us in March 2023 to help us manage the growing demands of planned and reactionary maintenance. Our service department was growing and Baystar was taking on more and more systems installed by others. John is our resident specialist for Biomass Servicing and Maintenance. He is fully certified with HETAS to ensure we comply with all exisiting RHI maintenance requirments.

Aaron Evans

Groundworks & Renewables Senior Installer

Aaron leads up our groundworks team, and has been with Baystar for almost a decade. He is highly experienced having managed almost all of the ground source heat pump collectors and district heating networks. He always has a will-do attitude that comes from his time spent in the British Army. He really enjoys metal detecting in his spare time.

Laszlo Tulok

Renewables Senior Engineer Installer

Laszlo also joined us in January 2025 alongside other team members. He is very experienced as a Heat Pump installation engineer. He is often praised for his diligent focus on his work, politeness and tidiness on site.

Attila Jonas

Groundworks and General Technician

Attila is a very hands on team member, always happy to support the team in ensuring Baystar deliver the highest quality installations. He is a kind and thoughtful team member! Our fluffy colleagues adore him the most.

Bela Szabo

Renewables Installer

Bela has 20+ years of experience with heat pumps and regularly supports the team on larger installations as well as managing smaller residential projects with Marcell. Bela is fully trained and certified, moreover he is a very thoughtful installer and always offers support and guidance to others.

Marcell Kiss

Renewables Installer

Marcell has 10+ years of experience with heat pump installations. Marcell and Bela typically work together as a power-team! Fast, meticulous and tidy they both understand the requirements both from a complaince and functional standpoint.
