Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) System

The Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) system at Splashpoint Leisure Centre, is a major step in reducing their carbon footprint and improving energy efficiency. This renewable energy is used to heat their swimming pools and regulate the building’s temperature, reducing reliance on gas-powered systems.

What Are the Benefits?

  • Lower Carbon Emissions – Switching from traditional gas heating to a GSHP can reduce carbon emissions by up to 4,500 kg per year—equivalent to removing an average car from the road for a year.
  • Highly Energy Efficient – GSHPs generate 3-4 times more energy than they consume, making them one of the most efficient heating solutions available.
  • Sustainable & Renewable – Unlike fossil fuel-based systems, GSHPs use constant underground heat, providing a reliable, year-round renewable energy source.
  • Reduced Running Costs – While installation requires upfront investment, long-term energy savings make it a cost-effective choice for the future.
  • Minimal Maintenance & Longevity – With fewer moving parts than conventional boilers, GSHPs require less maintenance and can last over 20 years.
