Why heat pump won’t turn on?

There could be a number of reasons that the heat pump isn’t turning on. The first thing to check is whether the unit has power, if it does have power is it showing any error codes? Or is it a blank screen? Error codes can be different depending on your make and model so consult with the manual to see what each code refers to. If there is no error code the next thing to check would be power to the thermostat. There is always the classic ‘turn it off and on again’ which is surprisingly effective as this can trigger the heat pump to provide an error code if the issue persists. If that draws a blank then there may be a component that needs inspecting or replacing such as a reversing valve or capacitor, call a MCS accredited service engineer as they may be able to provide support over the phone.
